I’ve been enjoying the crocuses as a sign of spring! And now we've other flowers in bloom as well. 😊
Thinking about hosting a Walton photo scavenger hunt. If that sounds like fun to anyone, just respond to this email to say so! If we get enough interest, there might even be an award for the winner.
Here’s what’s happening in Walton and the surrounding area in the next few weeks:
Upcoming Local Events 🏹 🥞 🍳 📕 🥾
Starting April 22nd, the Walton Central School District will be going to a single point of entry for the middle and high schools. Everybody who comes into the school will have to come through the high school entryway from that date forward.
Max Jacobs is holding a breakfast fundraiser on May 11th to raise money for his Eagle Scout project to purchase and install a scoreboard for the Walton Booster Club Football program. The breakfast will be held at the New Hope Community Church from 8:00am to 12:00pm, free will offering.
The William B. Ogden Free Library will host local author, Dr. Michael Freeman on May 1st from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. "Dr. Freeman's book, Buen Camino is a reflection of the journey the author and his family took during the summer of 2014 as they hiked and biked the roads and trails of El Camino de Santiago in Spain. Dr Freeman will share some practical knowledge of embarking on such a journey as well has some of the revelations and spiritual benefits he gained from the experience. Light refreshments will be served."
The Walton Farmers' Market is taking vendor applications at this time.
Upcoming meetings include:
School – April 23rd, 6:00pm (budget adoption); and May 7th, 7:00pm (budget public hearing; note time change).
Village – May 6th, 6:00pm.
Town – May 13th, 6:00pm.

Further Afield 🥚 🛤️ 🚴 📰
The Town of Delhi will be holding an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 20th. Ages 2-4, 10:00am to 11:00am; ages 5-7, 11:00am to 12:00pm; and ages 8+, 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Held at the Delhi Town Square.
With spring here, Revolution Rail Co., in North Creek, NY is accepting 2019 bookings for their rail-biking expeditions. Might make for a fun date or a family excursion (though it's pricey: tandem bike rentals are $80 and quad bikes are $140).
The River, a Hudson Valley newsroom, writes about the growing number of local news deserts across the US. It's a reminder that we're very lucky to have The Reporter as a local paper. If you're not currently a subscriber, I encourage you to sign up today. A year's subscription ends up being less than a dollar per issue.
Thanks for reading,

One thing I missed when copying over my draft: The All Seasons Sportsmen's Expo (https://www.allseasonssportsmensexpo.com/) will be held May 4th at the Delaware County Fairgrounds from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
And one thing I've been asked to include in the next newsletter (which probably won't be out in time, so I'll add it here): The Delaware County Relay for Life (http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=91165) is Saturday, April 27th, at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. They are looking for cancer survivors to come kick off the event at noon, followed by a luncheon being furnished by SUNY Delhi culinary students. There will be a car show.
