Make A Gingerbread House

Note: It’s the 21st already, which means this Advent Calendar entry is a day late. Sorry about that; our attempt at making our own gingerbread house for a picture was a failure. Oops! We’ll be back later today with today’s scheduled post.

Make A Gingerbread House

The construction of a gingerbread house is a fun family activity that results in a nice display piece that doubles as a delicious snack. Simply Recipes has a gingerbread house guide adapted from the 1996 Joy of Cooking book. Before you begin, keep in mind that the gingerbread dough should chill in the refrigerator overnight, though you can make it up to three days in advance. Also, in addition to the main ingredients listed in the recipe, you'll also want a mix of candies to decorate the house with, so don't forget those on your trip to the grocery store.

If you don't have the time or ingredients to make gingerbread dough, you can still make a gingerbread house. Just make sure you have some graham crackers, frosting (or make your own), and candies for decoration.

Be sure to share your creations by using the hashtag #waltonadventcalendar2018 on Instagram/Facebook.

Sing Christmas Carols

Sing Christmas Carols

There is something special about Christmas carols, whether singing them while going door-to-door or in the comfort of your own home. While you certainly could go caroling, we encourage you to at the very least sing some of your favorite carols either at home or perhaps at church.

Need some inspiration? Here are some of our favorites: Joy to the World, Silent Night, and The First Noel.

Enjoy your holiday singing!
